Dapplestar sighed as she scanned her area
It was a day she went hunting alone
The calico's green eyes fixed on a plump mouse
She crouched and straightened her tail
The Vineclan leader launched herself onto the mouse and than sunk her teeth quickly
A mouse lay in her paws
Dapplestar snatched the mouse but than her ears pricked up
The calico scanned the area
Is something wrong here?
Dapplestar dug her claws into a trees bark and began climbing up to see what was going on |

He despised the seasons of leaf-fall and leaf-bare. Despite the thick fluffiness of his coat the chilled airs and droplets of freezing liquids caused his level of annoyance to rise considerably with each moment that he was left exposed to it. Thankfully the sky was clear, and the sun allowed a moment to shine down upon their territory. Ice had melted and the ground was left soggy. He had nearly slipped on several occasions during the earlier hours of the day. Addertooth shook a paw, bits of mud slung off the limb as he did so. Wrinkling his muzzle, he continued to progress into their territory, seeking prey. A pity there was so little to be found at the moment. His belly ached, and he wanted to at least bring back something. The tom spotted the distant figure of a she-cat, his nose twitching as he picked up the familiar scent of his mate. She appeared to be climbing, having made her way near the top portion of the trees. Unable to stop himself from releasing a purr, he moved to make his approach, craning his neck as he watched as she continued move even higher. Should he disturb her? " She's probably busy," he said. " Dapplestar! It's Addertooth! Everything alright?" [ Dapplestar ]

She meowed climbing down the tree to greet him |

" Right. Right," he drawled. He moved to touch noses with her in greeting, eyes falling shut for a moment as he did so. " I smell a mouse." His nostrils flared a bit, the tom's head swiveling in the direction of the mouse. " You've been having better luck then me. I'm not too surprised. You were always the better hunter." How rare it was for Addertooth to admit his own faults - but, he rarely ever tried the cover up his own weaknesses with his mate. He attempted that enough as an apprentice and when they were naught more than bright-eyed warriors. " Up to joining me? Maybe some of your good fortune will rub off on me." [ Dapplestar ]

" You make it look as though you'd like to pounce on me instead," he replied. Amused, he decided to mirror her posturing instead of questioning it. He was reminded of their apprentice-ship days, when the world was far more simple to the pair. For some reason such a thought snapped him back to focus and he stood fully. " Let's go, silly paws," he purred. " I doubt the prey'll wait on us forever." He trotted past, flicking his bushy tail out so that it tickled her nose. [ Dapplestar ]

" Of course, my love," he replied, smoothly. He waited for a moment, and, once she was at his side, they prowled the forest together. Everything was quiet, with only their paw steps breaking the lingering silence. The chill remained and still there was very little to be found. Addertooth paused after some time had passed, his nostrils once again flaring. His eyes narrowed, his head turning from side to the side and his ears twitched. " Give me a moment." Addertooth veered away from their pre-determined path, his paws proceeding to slide against the soil. Mud began to cling onto his white underbelly and paws, yet his movements remained muted as a result. He lunged forward, swiping with unsheathed claws at a furry shape that released a frightened squeal. Once it had been successfully disorientated he executed a swift bite upon the back of it's neck, finishing it swiftly. " Guess you being here is working, after all," he jested. [ Dapplestar ]

" Let's begin making our way back to the camp. I'd prefer the elders and kits not get this while it's too cold," he said. He moved to pick up the vole, pausing briefly to speak. " Don't forget your mouse." [ Dapplestar ]

" You already know I'd never say no to that, Dapplestar," he replied. He said this after depositing his prey upon the fresh-kill pile. Afterward, he proceeded to clean himself, tongue rasping over the soiled fur of his paws. He grimaced, realizing the task would be far more daunting than he'd have liked it to be. " I'm not terribly surprised to hear that," he said. He stretched, muzzle opening wide to reveal pointed teeth. He was named for his ability to wield his teeth within battle. He had a grip that resembled a serpent's once his jaws had successfully clamped down upon a target. " I couldn't manage it, myself. Being a warrior works out just fine for me. Then again, I've never had any aspirations to become anything more than what I am." [ Dapplestar ]
